Vintage Sylvania

In this, our first installment, we zoom in on certain evocative scenes – landmarks, homes, businesses, and faces – that we hope begin to hint at the breadth and depth of life in Sylvania as it evolved, from the imagination of two frontier pioneers in the 1830s through the rapid changes that have marked the last thirty years. We have organized the photographs thematically in sections that mirror the activities that shape our lives: Home, Learn, Faith, Work, and Play. We recognize that life is not so tidily divided, but we hope that this organization is useful as you tour through the book, stopping now and again to linger on an image that you find particularly evocative.
