i`ve been to deer haven before.. my grandma took me there.. now it`s afire station & baseball fields..they alsu had monkey`s..
I worked there!!!! One entire summer. My first full time job - I wasnt' 16 yet, but back then it didn't matter. Tended deer, sold tickets, and cooked hamburgers etc. I loved it!
Fox Lake's City Hall sits where the Deer Haven entrance is in the picture. A city park was made of the area behind that. The fire station and village garage sit in the back far left part of the property. Deer Haven was like a petting zoo and many groups held public picnic's there over the years. The road in front of the park is Route 59. In the rear of the property is Washington Street in Ingleside. I lived in the are from 1948 to 1982.
We once had a fundraiser there for a kid in Lake Villa that was accidentally shot by his brother. An old group called The Ink Spots was the headliner. I was a kid at the time. I loved Deer Haven. It was a fun place.
