Central Christian Church. The building was sold and torn down many years ago; a bank building stands in its place. That field at the bottom of the picture is now the Wal-Mart in O'Fallon.
Went to church there. I remember the when the addition and actual chapel were built
Hi Dennis,
Thank you for amazing history and knowledge of this area. What is your favorite memory from that property?
Grew up at 109 Dean Avenue from 1951 on. Never had to lock the doors or the car. We played at St. Ellen's Coal mine, went daily to the Green Store, sometimes ate dinner at Becherer's Tavern. Heard sonic booms from jets till they were banned. Lots of different planes coming and going from Scott Field, train whistles from the tracks a mile away. Fished for crawdads in the ditch in front of our house. No AC till 1964, only the lazy sounds of fans and locusts in the summer heat. Too many good memories to pick just one.
