My familys store. My great grandfather, W.D. Barnes started it in the late 1800's. Then my grandfather took it over, and then my father. It was sold in 1987, ran by others for a few years and then sat empty until someone bought it and tore it down. It was a landmark, too bad.

I worked at the store when I was 14 years old until I was 17. Mrs. Eckart was a sweet lady and you are right about popping her gum. LOL !!!! I have a lot of memories from there.

I started working there when I was 14 also. It was a great place. We had 2-3 stock boys on the weekends. People did their weekly shopping there. He had groceries, Hardware, shoes and boots, feed for cattle. We pumped gas out front. He was a great guy and did a lot for the community

Where was this at?

On the Corner of the 4-way stop in Elizabeth. Where the Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Dept. is now. The upper part of the fire house is actually the old warehouse from the store.

This was such an important part of history. I always went in there and bought penny candy! My mom worked as a cashier there for awhile and other family members. This was our grocery store growing up. Hated that it sat empty and then was tore down.
