My grandfather and grandmother (J.D. and Nadine Carpenter) moved into this house in 1969. They raised a family of 13 children in this house, though the eldest 2 sons were teenagers when they moved in. My grandfather passed away in 2002 and my grandmother passed away in 2016. Both died in this house surrounded by family and loved ones. Shortly after my grandmother's death the house caught fire and was nearly completely destroyed. The damage rendered it unsafe. Rebuilding the house wasn't an option so it was torn down. The property went through many transitions over the years. An additional pole barn was built, along with some sheds and a chicken coup. The primary heating element for the house was a wood burning stove in the kitchen, and while a fuel oil heater was added to the living room the wood burning stove was the primary heat for the house until it was torn down. Indoor plumbing was added to the house during my grandparent's stay there as well. Sadly, none of the outbuildings remain either. All that stands there now is a pump house.
