My church as a child. So many memories

My family church. Parsonage (house) is no longer there. Church is closed.

Our family belonged to that church. I helped my mother clean the church. Mabel Foxworthy was my Sunday School teacher. The men sat on the right side and the women sat on the left side as you walked in the door. Dad and the men used to cook Thanksgiving Dinners.
The women used to cook lunches for the hunters each fall. We have a plate with the Church on it.

This was the Pence Methodist Church in Pence, IN. and the church I attended during my childhood and was eventually married in 1961. Even though I left to live in Indianapolis after my youth, many of my family members continued to be active in the church until it eventually closed. I have many wonderful memories of the church and it's members as well as sad ones of my grandparents funerals, but I will always cherish the fond recollections that reflect its history and contribution to the community.

I grew up in Pence and this was my church. My wife and I recently visited Pence. The church is starting to fall apart and the sad part is the beautiful stained glass windows should be saved before it too late. I remember the pancake and sausage dinners and the harvest hunt meals.

The Church still stands. A person I do not know who, Is fixing it up. I went there for a number of years as well.
