West Paint Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, on the Elon Road, east of Waukon, Iowa. The church was built by Norwegians who left their home church during the Doctrine of Election controversy in the Norwegian Synod. The folks who left started over, and today that synod is called the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS). My great-grandparents, Martin and Anna Anderson, belonged to this church, as did many of their descendants. My mother, Eleanor Tolander Larson, was the organist here from 1952-2006. I was confirmed in this church on June 12, 1977.
