The house on the right i was was jay and alice newsome ..it was our home place they had 18 children. ..the house is gone now...my name is Albert Newsome one of the 18...

I'm one of 18 children of jay and Alice newsome, that built this house,I have many memories growing up in this home place, from the time it was being built ,till it was torn down ,that was in the days when everyone had chores to do ,whether it was doing dishes ,working in the garden, helping mom can the food that was raised in the garden or tending to the younger siblings, you didn't give any arguments with mom, back then there weren't none of this talking back to your parents ,you got a switch taken to you and you would be glad to get back to work, all in all you could say that was the good ole days!

Played there a many of times with my besties Barb and Fay that home sure held a lot of love and now even tho it is gone it still holds a lot of Memorys

Hi,my name is shannon Dunham and I'm one of the grandkids and my mom is Charlene she is one of the 18 kids that was born and raised here.i remember always going up there and playing with my mama's hair and sitting on the porch with my papa and having the family together and playing the guitar banjo and my aunt's singing together I love this place it's my second home and the house being torn down isn't my favorite memory but the memory of everything is what will never be forgotten about.

I’m one of the eighteen kids that lived here! I wasn’t in schoo but I remember the day we moved into the house there was snow on the ground and my brother James packed me on his back! I can remember 12 of us living at home when I was growing up! Like Minzie said we all had to work and I’m thankful for all the memories that we have. Dad worked for the county busting rocks. No one worked as hard as our mom she made quilts and sold them; she sold Blair; we all worked the garden; mom made sure the canning got done. She always kept enough quilts to keep us warm on cold winter nights! In the middle of cold nights mom would climb the stairs to make sure we were covered up! Love my family!!
