Part of the Johnson family of farms on the Johnson Road in Presque Isle. Many people have owned it since the Johnson's left, Gustins, Pattersons and now Edith Greiiner. She has built a good sized addtion to the back of the house and a second bay in the garage.

Almost didn't recognize it!! Now it's enclosed with trees.

Irene and Richard DaFonte owned this place from about 1960 to 1965 when Mom sold it to Patterson and Eddie Greliner. Eddie still lives there. Before Mom and Dad bought it there was large machine shed as you came up the driveway on the right side before the well house. Also there was a large barn toward the north west. They took off a porch and an ell with a dormer they removed. On the south side of the house right under the overprinted A was my sister and my chicken coup converted into a playhouse. Can't tell for sure but that black blob near the corner of the house looks like Two-Ton Tony, Findlin's shetland pony who stayed at our house from time to time.

I,think we bought that place from Milton Johnson, in 1954. It sure changed a lot.

Mom dug out some old pix of the place. She said they bought it in the spring of 1956 or 57 based on the photos. 1957 the back chimney was still on the house it was later removed. One of the photos shows me on a pony and the flat topped garage is in the background. Mom and Dad added that part on, photo is dated Dec. 1962 and there's snow in the pix. This home was Sherm Johnston's farm. He farmed both sides of the road down all the way to Parkhurst Siding. (Still have not located pix of the siding) Mom thinks the farm went from Sherm to Gustin's then to her and Dad.

Some more comments from Mom regarding the large barn not in this photo: she remembers when she was a kid her Mom came in the house and announced there was a fire up the hill. She said they walked up the hill and by the time they got there (I'm guessing less than one mile) she said most of the contents of the house had been removed as they thought they would loose the house. The glow from the fire was seen for miles. Mom said it was a BIG barn.
