This is my Grandfather's farm in North Caribou Maine!
Gertrude & Gilbert Ouellette
My grandparents sold it in the early 1970's to a military family.
Later it was sold again! In 1976 my husband and I purchased it back. That same year heavy snow accumulations caused the beautiful barn to collapse!

We enjoyed many years raising our three small children. This was a great foundation to start their life!
My fathers siblings and their families were able to return to the old homestead in the years that followed.
Due to a job relocation in 1989 we moved to the Bangor Maine area.

While on the market the renters we had experienced a house fire and it completely burned!
The sadness was overwhelming! We were however very thankful that no one was injured in the fire.
We sold the land to a local young couple where they built their home.

The fire destroyed the house but it did not destroy the beautiful memories! Several generations of love, family gatherings, and many parties took place "under the trees" (as my Grandmother would say)!

My husband Tim and I still enjoy this photo in our current home. It is proudly displayed for all to see!

Thank you for posting this photograph!
