This is the Joseph & Wellena Chasse farmhouse at Box 77 Petit Mountain Rd. St David Me. We were 11 children in the family and 9 are still alive. Only thing left in the homestead is the house. Somewhat dilapidated, but all we have to do is remember all the good things we learned and the very good times we had there growing up. I go for a ride every summer to the farmhouse not to forget my roots. Miss this place very much but so thankful for all the things I learned.

I am a niece of Nancy Chasse Corbin. My Mother, Marie is the 3rd oldest of this fabulous family. What memories I have of the gatherings, activities (berry/potato picking, throwing rocks and cracking Pepere's garage window), walking to the "Shop"to buy penny candy, and an all time favorite, shaking sugar on Memere's home made donuts. Laughter, music, good food, hard work, and tricks amongst the siblings were plentiful. The image of this beautiful farm has also been captured in a colorful acrylic painting.

Many good memories, also grew up here. I take a ride over there once in awhile to see how it is, not the same but just love to see the area. Miss it.

After Jos & Wellena Chasse retired from homestead there son Edward & Theresa Chamberland Chasse took over the farm. They raised four children, Philip, Diane, Jeffery & Sharron.

I was the youngest of eleven children in the Joseph & Wellena Chasse family. This homestead has a very special place in my heart. Those memories will never leave me. I do live out of state but do visit family at least once a year. I do also go by to see the place when I am up there. Just wish it looked as it did when we lived there.

A lot of fond & good memories of that place where I worked & played & was brought up. Memere & Pepere instilled a lot of values of hard work & play that I still hold on to as much as I can. Mom & Dad raised us the best as that knew how & for all those Aunts & Uncles that had a hand in my upbringing. Thank you so much for all the memories & good times. Love you all.

The farm of my grandparent's (Zephirin and Emma Gendreau) neighbor's, a beautiful farm, always heard nice things about the Chasse's, the house is all that remains now. I even bought the land behind it some years ago, mu Mom used to slide on the top of the hill in the winter!

Loved that homestead; it was such a peaceful place, although it does not look as it did when this photo was taken. My husband and I raised our three children next door to this home when Bea & Theresa Chasse and their family lived there. They embraced us in their fold, and my children were fortunate to have this extended family to love and tolerate their frequent visits through the wheat field; what a special place this was for us all.

I grew up there also, one of eleven children. I have fond memories of playing hide and go seek there with the neighborhood children. We would always go inside the house for 7:00 P. M. because we were afraid of the Bonhome Sept Heures.

I remember going there almost every Sunday after church to visit Memere and Pepere Chasse. They would always welcome us with open arms and enjoyed the grandchildren and the house full of people. Great memories. Miss them.
