USDA test farm. Presque Isle, ME

I grew up on this farm. My house is not shown in this picture, it was to the far right of this picture, so wish I could find a picture of it. They burned it down (controlled practice burn for FD) back in 1980--it was over 100 years old This picture shows the main house, barn, green houses in the back to the left, mechnics shop.

At this time I was not born yet but my Dad Hanford Tardy was the Head foremen and Mr. Cobb was the "Boss" and lived in the main house. I remember going to the house and Mrs. Cobb trying to teach me piano :) When I was about 3-4 Joe Llyod and his family took over that position. His kids were Joe, Julie, Kaite, Barbara & John. Age wise I was a year younger then Barb and 2 or 3 yrs older then John. Wonderful memories playing in the apple orchard and taking long walks down back to the woods.

When i was a teenager in the FFA Future Farmers of America and my father was a State of Maine Potato Inspector I was here from time to time.
