Ralph Howard

That was Ralph Howard's farm. He always kept it very nice. The land on this side of the road was my father's. Just to the right of this photo was another road that came down off the top of the hill. I had a second hand English three speed racer bike. The brakes were pads on each side of the wheels that pinched when the brakes were pulled. I started down the hill and started gaining speed. I started applying the brakes, and everything was going fine until about half way down the hill. The brake cable snapped. I didn't dare put on the front brake because that usually ended with me going over the handlebars. I shot across the Hill Road (luckily nothing coming) and almost ended up in my father's fence on the other side of the road.

Howard Farm going up Westford Hill in Hodgdon. Beautiul farm house and buildings. Always looks so nice and neat.
