Wondering if this is Wassons Grove? The other pictures that were identified as such, don't have a set of swings. My mother said the swings were there in the 50's. On the left?

Hmmm, doesn't quite look like it to me, but my memory may be off. I feel like the building was set back further from the road, and the swings were back further and under all the pines, and with a super high bar at the top. And I didn't think there was an empty lot to the left, just more trees.

Yeah, probably not. I was just a kid when we would go there in the 70's. Things look so different from the air.

I think this IS Wasson's Grove. There is a pet groomer there, now, at 333 Gray Rd, Falmouth, ME. If you compare this picture to the Google satellite view, the driveway, setback, and lot shape are similar. If you look at street view, you see an angled bump-out at the right side of the current building. They added a second story to the building in the 80s.

I too remember playing among the pines on that wonderful playground when I was little (late 70s), and I remember it closing, and I lived close enough in Portland that we drove by at least every couple of weeks, so I was reminded of it.

No, not Wasson's. It didn't have a double peak roof. I ate there a lot back in the early 60s. The swing set was to the left and in the back of the lot. I spent a lot of time on those swings.

The sign by the road says Wasson's Grove if you zoom in on it above the tractor trailer. Looking at the 1970 aerial photo of 333 Gray Rd/Wasson's Grove matches with this picture.

That is indeed Wasson's Grove. It's right on the corner of Hadlock Road, where I grew up. All the kids on my street had to walk there (in the 1970s) to catch the school bus. I also worked there when I was 16.

When I worked there (1970s) the place had already changed hands at least once. But they made the best burger I have ever had, to this day. A regular burger came with mustard, ketchup, special relish (mix of red and green) and onions that had been sauted in butter. The buns were steamed, too. I don't live in the area any more, but still stop by Harmon's to try and relive the experience.
