Fitch's Store, Sebago, ME

Fitch's General Store was located in East Sebago in the V created by Long Hill Road (which ran in front of the store) and Route 114 (which ran behind it). The structure was constructed by George Fitch as a private residence around 1870. The barn became a store in 1919 when a store established around 1830 across the road was struck by lightning and burned to the ground.

Laurence and Vera Fitch, 4th generation, operated the "If we don't have it, you don't need it" general store for decades. The store closed for good on Thanksgiving Day 1997 and has been reverted to a private residence.
