FARRINGTONS

So China , Maine

I really miss that place. I always bought my years supply of socks there while on vacation. Still wear a flannel shirt I bought there for $2 back in the early '90's

Was a great institution. Knew the family very well. Paul Farrington sold me my first fishing rod when I was 10 years old. Still have some clothing from there that are only worn on special occasions!

i think thats my dads beetle parked there he wrkd there in the 60s

We had a lot of memories of Farrington's store. Everyone in the area of South China, Palermo, Weeks Mills, Vassalboro shopped there. My mom used to buy a lot of material there for my dresses growing up.Wool for a few coats.Yarn for sweaters for the whole family. I knew the family very well as us kids always played together when our parents were shopping at Farrington's store. Sure did miss them when they closed. I would say that everybody did.

9 Legion Memorial Drive, South China, ME. In this photograph Farrington's Clothing/Department Store. The business closed in the late 90s/early 2000s. I'm unsure when the front most building was lost, however the other two were still standing in 2011. By the end of the decade the long addition that said FARRINGTON'S was demolished. Today the rearmost part of the building houses a small gym and window covering company. The parking lot is now paved, and a home was built in the lot to the left.
