CHARLIE RHOADES GARAGE AND THE LANDING ON THE LEFT

I was at the ice cream stand often on my bike. I use to go to Charlies garage which I think was his father Archie's garage at this time with my grandfather. Archie painted my Bike at this garage.

I used to work summers at the building at the left side if pic. then it was Custard's Last Stand---a soft serve and fast food place on China Lake. It is still in business--now known as The Landing

Hi,
I'm Scott Rhoades and grew up here working weekends and summers. Later we build the new garage, now a Circle K. Many memories.

Mckeils house to the left and a path to reach their grandparents house to the right. People had so much land, compared to how it looks now.

Charlie Rhoades Garage (at center; demolished), the shed/barn of 1363 Lakeview Drive (far right - see 84-AKE-20), and 1380 Lakeview Drive, today known as "The Landing". The shed at the right is gone today, as is the Charlie Rhoades garage - it was demolished in the late 60s or early 70s when the China Village bypass was built for Lakeview Drive/US-202. The Landing, once known as Custard's Last Stand (as per the above), has had additions added to both the gable ends with lower rooflines. I believe the house at the top left still stands on Pleasant View Ridge Road, but has been heavily altered.
