This was the farm of Seivert & Nettie Mathison for many years. Seivert was the brother of my great-great grandmother Lena (Mathison) Carlson. They farmed it with their sons Edloir, then Orlend and his wife Irene, who lived here when this photo was taken. In 1999, Devin Kellen lived here, but the farm was vacant by 2002. Today, some of the buildings remain, but the farm is abandoned.
Before the Mathisons moved here, this was the Mikkelson farm, being homesteaded by Brede Mikkelson around 1879. He established a tree claim here in 1893, which is the grove to the right of the farm in the picture above. He still owned the farm in the 1910's, but the Mathisons farmed here by 1931.
