Photo 5-CHO-30

Comments

This was my Uncle Edward Welsh, his farm in Looney Valley.

This is the only photo I think there is of both barns in a aerial photo. Wish that we could get an updated one. Also the only one that has part of the old bridge road. It was washed out in the 2007 flood. The new crossing goes between the hay bine shed and the old hog barn[in the last years Ed had chickens and pot belly pigs in there]. Now the old hog barn foundation is there with an open faced heifer shed on it. So many changes. The shop use to be the old school house from up the road. Tim the owner of the farm went to that school for a year or two before they closed it. I think the story goes that Ed bought it for one dollar and Hans Haefs moved it to its present spot. The chalk boards are still in there and some of the cabinets also. Have the boys toilet sign in the house and the photo of George Washington in the milk house. Also interesting to look at in this photo is that the big feedlot shed wasn't built yet. Very happy to have found this photo from so long ago.
