The farm of Roman and Dorothy Halter on what is now called Keeteman Road. The house was built in 1960. We originally were in our farm house across the road, which the large trees are concealing. The older farm house was eventually destroyed. Because of flooding, mom and dad had a levee built completely around our home. The water had gotten into the house in the 1973 flood. We all had helped with a sandbag levee around the house. It was almost 6' high, and it held back the water. We eventually lost that battle to the water, and the house was flooded. After our home was fixed, the dirt levee was built around the house, and water never got back into the house again, until the 1993 flood. We loved our home, and have wonderful memories of growing up, not only in the "newer" home, but in the farmhouse where it all started.
