My parents purchased this house in 1988. The house was built in 1845 as part of Fairfield Dairy. Two brothers each received as 1,000 acre plot as part of a land grant from Lord Edgecombe of England. The house was renovated inside and out and completed in about 1993. My father, Donahue Bottoms, Sr. performed most of the work. He built a work shop where he repaired and refinished antique wooden furniture in the area. He especially enjoyed showing the home during the holidays. The rumor was that money is buried on the property but we never found it. We invested a fortune in restoring the house. He past away in 1998. My mother, Dalen Saulter Bottoms, sold the property in 2006 and moved to Wilson, NC. The house is listed in the county historical record. The house has been vacant since my mother moved away. Today the house has new owners and is being renovated again to be used as a conference center and B&B.
