Windsor, Ohio, nursing home and Windsor Grange, Route 534. 1965

The house in the center, then (1965) part of the nursing home, had once been the McCalmont home where Marian Alderman lived as a child. Karl Eric Brugman later moved it to the southeast corner of Routes 534 & 322, where it now stands.

According to Doug Alderman, the house in the center that was later moved belonged to Mr. and Mrs. Woofter, who owned and operated the nursing home. His mother, Marian McCalmont lived in the house in front of the barn (far left). The house is possibly what can be seen under the logo in the bottom left of the photo. She never lived in the Woofter house.

My mother was in the nursing home from 1993 to 1997 when she died. My sister and brother in law lived farther South on 534--Marilyn and Jay Loomis. My mother and father-- step father. Sister and brother in law as well as one of their daughters are buried I the cemetery on the top of the hill. I used to play in the cemetery with my little boy friend Norman Clark. His father had a grocery store on the corner of 322 and 534. Mom and dad hung out at the local bar. (McDougals) in the 40's. We. Lived in a house just up the street on 322 until we moved to Euclid in 1948. We attended the local Methodist Church while we lived there. Good memories of al of the 4th of July parades from the church to the cemetery to lay flowers on the graves of veterans.
