My 5th Great Grandfather, Samuel Morgan, Owned the N/E 1/4 of section 11, township 13N, range 4W in 1817.

Picture 4 of Film Roll 63 is my old house. We moved in April 1969 and moved out Oct 1985. All the shrubs, flower beds and trees around the house and yard was planted by me. ( this picture is 1975 so the shrubs and trees are very small here and a lot more has been added) Our 2 kids were very small and grew up there. We bought it from Wrights and before that was Hirst. Mrs Hirst was a Metz and grew up on the farm above this house. Her maternal Gma was a Philpot and I found in some of the old census where Philpots lived here. When we remodeled the upstairs we found square nails and carbite light fixtures, the floor beams were done by hand and bark on 2 sides. My husband thinks this house was built 1880 or earlier.

Virginia that is awesome to know. If you want to see the original land patent you can go to: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/search/...

Location: Ohio
County: Carroll

Last Name: Morgan
First Name: Samuel

After Samuel died, I believe that this 160 acres then went to James Allison and Keziah (Morgan) Allison, Samuel's Granddaughter. Still confirming this fact. Keziah died in 1871 leaving her property to her Daughter, Nancy Jane Allison who passed away in 1874. The property was probably sold then, (that would agree with your husbands dating of the house to be about 1880. It is truly a small world.
