2781 Airport Rd - demolished

My parents Bud & Mary Lou Wilgus moved here in 1968 and bought it in 1970. Sold the farm in 2022. My husband & I dismantled the barn and are in the process reassembling on a lot we purchased on Stover Road in Ostrander. Soon to be our new home. Creating new memories for this old barn which was built approximately 1850’s.

Hi Debbie! How exciting to hear about your family's history with the barn and your plans to reassemble it on your new lot! We'd love to learn more about your memories growing up in Delaware County. Since the photo was taken in 1983, have you noticed any significant changes in the area over the years? Also, what type of farming did your parents do on the farm?

My parents were grain farmers growing corn, beans and wheat. My brother Randy and my Grandfather Francis Wilgus Sr. were also a huge part in their farm operation.
Since the sale of the farm 4 warehouses have been built on the 89 acres one of which will cover 10 acres. Sawmill Parkway has been built along the back property line of the farm and will reach Section Line Road in the near future.
