Rt 58, 1st house north of Merriam Rd, east side, Pittsfield. It has a few additional barns today.
The Joe McConnell farm, historically known as The Lincoln Farm as they were the first to farm this land before 1850. The McConnells bought it following A.P. Lincoln's death in 1949. The house has "1845" chiseled into one of the timbers. The farm was 122 acres, about half planted with crops and the remainder in pasture and timber. Joe was a third generation breeder of Ayrshire cattle. He had been selling his milk to the Snyder Bruce Dairy in Rocky River.
Featured as Mystery Farm number 25 by the Wellington Enterprise on May 24, 1956. Search the Lorain County home page for "mystery" to see other farms.
