This was the Lucas County Work House on Shadel Rd. Notice the old jail in the top left corner. The top center is the jail yard with the large stone walls and guard towers on the corners. Bob Morris was the farmer/guard (work boss) that kept the farm running with the those serving time. He told me he tracked a couple of runaways to a woods 2 miles west. He had a buck between him and the woods that was across from my place. The buck wanted to run back in the woods but was in a dalema since he had just been chased out of the woods by something. Bob knew they were hiding in the woods and since it was early spring he would just wait on them for a while. It wasn't long and out of the woods they came with their hands in the air. Bob knew how bad the mosquitoes were in the woods and knew time was on his side. Bob was a great guy and well respected buy those doing their time at the Work House.
