My father bought this farm after he returned from WW II. The octagon shaped house was supposedly used as part of the underground railroad during the Civil War. The thick walls made the window sills wide enough for my sister or me to sit in them. Originally the porch was open around the entire house. When Dad added siding he enclosed about two of the eight sides toward the attached garage that was added sometime while I was in college. I believe the original garage was where there is uneven ground that the top of the light pole "points" to. There was a silo where the roof of the low white building is lighter and the round pad with rubble on it is located.
