the motel in the pic is the quality inn at general lee great motel sorry too see it go,.

I am 80 and a 4th generation Gettysburg family. The owner of the Larson Motel was "Swede" Larson who attended Gettysburg High School at the same time as my sister. Nellie Larson, his sister was in my brothers class. Our families, as was common then were mostly connected. My Grandfather started his Minter Grocery Store in the early 1900's and my father continued the business until 1972 when we were burned out of business by a "local fire bug". Our store provided the food to the Dutch Pantry, the restaurant in the front.

This is all gone in the past few years. Only the house in the lower right corner remains along with the Lee's Headquarters itself.

The house in the lower left is also still there. That house, allegedly, was at one time a "house of ill repute" in the distant past. The overall property has been restored to more closely represent what it would have looked like at the time of the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.
