Zooks Dam
I grew up a few miles from here in Denholm pa. The old ice barn is not there as well as the dam ,where Zooks cut ice in winter and sold chunks to customers for their ice box ,the dam was destroyed by the 72 flood
The ice house was my uncle's, Chester Zook. I used to love to explore the building and water wheel that turned the compressors that froze the ice. Wnen i was a kid in 1950's they no longer were Cutting ice from the pond. My father's sister was married to Chester.
Zooks Dam on Licking Creek Rd
I grew up in nearby Rockville. and have good memories of my dad taking my brother Tim and I fishing there. Also remember the water wheel.
I went there one time with my Dad to get ice, circa 1956.
Chester Zook was my grandfather. I remember going to visit the ice house as a child. It was fascinating to watch. I even got to ride along on the ice delivery truck with my uncle Jerry. We used to ice skate on the dam.
