This is my homeplace in Buckingham County. My Daddy was a farmer and raised nine children on this farm. The beautiful house is now torn down, but the barns are still there. It is now owned by my nephew who has some cows on the farm. My husband and I now own the John Deere tractor in this picture and it is being restored. My grandparents and my parents are buried in the family cemetery and I like to think they are watching over the farm.

I grew up in Richmond, but when I was young I would stay at my aunt's house and help my grandpa on this farm. great memories of a lifetime visiting and huntin this area.

I remember landing a airplane on the farm. Uncle Rice was impressed. Mary could really fix a meal for a king. Miss those days

Hi Douglas! We loved reading about your memories of Buckingham County. It sounds like you had some really special times on that farm. Can you give us an idea of what kind of farming you did there? We're curious to know how things have changed since the photo was taken in 1983.
