This is the farm my grandfather, father and me and my three siblings grew up on. It's located 3 1/2 miles east of Loyal on 98. The home burned down some years after my mom and dad sold the farm so the only building that I know for sure is still there is the 3 car garage in the middle of the yard. That garage was not built until after I was grown and no longer living there. The machine shed on the right fell down and the two small buildings on the end of that shed may not be there either. It looks like the old chicken coop is still visible between those two sheds and the machine shed and I'm sure that's gone too. The barn and silo that are currently there are new from the ones on this picture. The big elm tree on the far left of the picture was dead from Dutch Elm disease and it's gone along with many of the other Box Elder trees around the house. On the front lawn was a big oak tree and it may still be there. Somewhere I have a picture of my grandpa as a little boy standing next to that oak when it was not much more than a sapling. The group of evergreen trees on the right of the picture were planted there after I was grown up also.

The 3-car garage and grainery were built in late fall early winter 1974 and the concrete floor was poured in spring 1975.
