We lived on this small farm on the west side of Merced Avenue between Letteau and Schendel from just before I started kindergarten in '71, through most of the 5th grade in '77. These were prime running around years for my brothers and I; great childhood memories here. This place seemed like out in the middle of nowhere back then, but now there's a big housing development across the street where Mr. King's farm and garage used to be. Our old house and the circular driveway are still there, and lots of Delhi sand. The beautiful mulberry tree in the front yard with a tree house platform my dad built for us was cut down a few years ago. I live in New England now, but when visiting family in CA will still go out of my way to drive past this special place from my past.
