I grew up on this ranch, the D.J. Macedo & Son Ranch. My dad (Manuel) and mom (Julia) and his parents went into partnership and bought the ranch in 1955. Dad sold the ranch in 1972 due to illness to Albert Brocchini who owned the adjacent properties. The ranch included the acreage on the other side of the levees bordering Caswell State Park. My dad and mom, brother, sister, and I lived on the ranch. I was 1 years old when we moved to the ranch. Dad grew alfalfa, sugar beets, black eye beans, and oats. The house at the top of the picture, the barn, and the corrals are gone. The picture shows alfalfa drying in windrows. All of the property is now in almond trees. Dad passed in 1977. Mom is still living, age 94, and resides in Spring Creek Estates in Ripon.
