Looking SW at the point where U.S. 45 enters Rantoul, Illinois, and becomes North Century Boulevard. The railroad, of course, is the ‘Main-Line of Mid-America’, the Illinois Central. Notice the welcome sign, the billboard for the Davis Hotel, but what really stands out is that beautiful F-86 Sabre Jet on the pedestal honoring Chanute Air Force Base, which is/was located in Rantoul. About the only constant to today is the United Fuel Company on the west side of the tracks from the F-86.
