I was raised on a farm 1/2 mile east of this place. After attending college from 1964 to 1968, I served in the Marine Corps for three years. Upon returning to Illinois, I lived south of Charleston, Illinois for three years while going through grad school and serving a year long internship. I moved to this place with my family in 1974, where my wife and I raised 4 children and taught in the local school system. We have about 22 acres altogether in this farmstead and raise primarily hay crops, along with large sized gardens. We have raised both elephant garlic and asparagus commercially. We continue to raise free range chicken and also have goats on the property. I have always loved this place and have been blessed to have spent most of my life here. There is now a pond east of the house where my grandchildren have a wonderful time during the summer months.
