I posted the photo to a Facebook group and here are the comments:
"Looks like the gas station (was an Arco in the 70's) at Roosevelt and Winfield Road in Winfield."
"That is correct a friend of mine from high school, Wheaton Central worked there. Fixed our cars."
"Vince Palmer owned or leased the station in the early 70's. His brother was a detective with the Sheriff's office and both went to WCHS."
I believe in the 1980s it became an Amoco. My first job out of high school (WCHS) was as a driver for The Daily Journal newspaper, and that was one of my stops. It's now a Marathon gas station.
Sinclair was purchased by ARCO in the 1970s, so it's not surprising that it became an ARCO in the 70s. ARCO ended all marketing east of the Mississippi in 1985 which is why it became an Amoco in the 1980s.
It's now a Mobil. It looks like Amoco tore down and replaced the building in the late 80s/ early 90s.
