Pavers gas station
Tagged it, but still doesn't come up in a Warrenville search. Now it should.
Yes this is Warrenville Rd & Batavia rd looking west on Batavia. Warrenville Rd running left to right. The current P.O. is just beyond this picture further down the road from this gas station. Bottom left corner of this picture is the old railroad tracks that stopped use in 1959 & I see construction equip there & dating the cars it looks like they are just finishing removing all the tracks
Lower right is the Carousel restaurant, which opened in 1961. In 1983, Art Stresney moved his Stresney & Sons piano business to the location. It operated there for about 20 years. Art died in the mid-2000s and building came into disrepair. After reconstruction of the Butterfield/Batavia road intersection, the City of Warrenville convinced the Stresney heirs to tear down the building, as it was an eyesore and the property would be more valuable for development. This happened in January 2013.
