Photo 36-BDU-35

The Edward Tews Farm. Located on Gary Avenue, now part of Stratford Square Mall.

Now a McDonalds, it could be said that this house was yet another victim of Stratford Square and suburban real estate development in general. However, development was already headed its way when this photo was taken. For those who lament the farmland ruined by real estate development, sleep well knowing that this particular area was swampy land. Sure, it could be farmed well today with a couple thousand $$/acre of modern drainage systems, but when the developers came calling in the 1970s, I can see why many of the landowners were more than happy to sell.
