Truman Rankins store in Bungay Illinois. I was only one when this was taken but I went there many years growing up.

Yes I grew up here. My Grandfathers grocery store. At the time as you can see in photo there is a ball diamond present. A lot and I mean a lot of softball games was played there

Grandparents home was right around a country block from this store and my parents built a house in 1974 next door to them. I have so many wonderful memories of this little country store and all the folks that gathered there. If you look closely you can see a lady walking on the little pathway to the back of the store. Not sure if it was Mrs Rankin or a family member. This store hosted many ball games, even area tournaments. You could find a little bit of everything and they had a little grill inside at one time. Great sandwiches and best pickled bologna (picked dog) in the country. When I was little some of the local folks would gather and play music and sing. Brenda Rose and her sister Kay Rockett both lived within walking distance and were some of the most talented singers. My dad played guitar and sat in with them a few times. What a wonder time we had! Both of my children were lucky enough to visit this store and have fond memories of it as well. I am so thankful for that. This place will forever have a very special place in my heart.
