This was Young School, one of the many one-room schoolhouses in Kane County. The school was part of the old District 42, before country schools were consolidated. Young School was presumably named for the Young family, who owned land around the school in the late-1800s. During the end of its use in the 1950s, the school was used for kindergarten. The August 30, 1954 edition of the Dekalb Daily Chronicle reported that kindergarten would be conducted at Young School for the 1954-55 school year from 9:00 - 11:00 each school day.
