This was the North Virgil one-room country schoolhouse. The school was part of the old District 69 which operated into the late-1940s. The September 1, 1949 edition of the Dekalb Daily Chronicle reported that North Virgil students would be transported a few miles southeast to Lily Lake. Thus was the end of school for North Virgil. As with many country schools, former students would get together for annual reunions. The Daily Chronicle reported in September 1970 that the school had held its 48th annual school reunion.
My Aunt taught here in the early 1940’s to ? not sure. After 10 years of her passing I have been going through boxes of pictures and found school pictures. Of her classroom and students. I have names of some students but not others. She was Miss Lucy Butt. Anyone know any more information?
