I live here from 1970 until 1980. The house had oak mortise and tenon frame work and the floor joists were just trees with the bark still on them with just a flat part shaved off one side. The underlayment on the second story roof was undressed boards cut from logs with the bark still on the edges. There were 7 outside doors on this house when we bought it. My family owned this farm until 2004. My father tore down all the out buildings and bulldozed them into a large ditch about where the feed lot is in the pic and burned it all. We resided the house, replaced the windows and took off that small front porch on the west side and added shutters to the windows. The built in porch on the south side with all the windows became our front room with a front entry door. The area behind the house got a large machine shed and large grain bin and corn dryer with a large circle driveway around it all. In 1984 we installed a large oval swimming pool in the yard slightly west and north of the old porch. My father planted a windbreak along the west and north sides of the front yard. After my father passed away in 1994 my mother had a Franklin stove installed in the front room. I felt very snug and cozy here and it was a very pretty place sitting up on it's hill. When we were all at home there were 5 of us, 4 women and 1 man and 1 bathroom and we managed very well. This house and since been torn down by the people who bought it from us and they have built a new house. There is another aerial photo of this farm taken shortly after we started living here. My little sister is standing in the front yard near the fir tree.
