110 E. Belvidere Rd., looking SE. The house was built in 1864 and still stands, albeit dilapidated. The building and barn are long gone and are merely a vacant lot awaiting phase 2 of the strip mall that sits just west of it. The garage next to the old house is still standing as well. Belvidere Rd. (Rt. 120) is visible on the upper right.

The 1907 plat map for Avon Township indicates that David Fritsch owned 50 acres of land just outside the Hainesville limits on the northeast corner of Broad St. (today Belivdere Rd. or Rte. 120) and Antioch St. (now Hainesville Rd.). Also bordering his property was Gage St. and North St.. David G. Fritsch (1843-1907), a farmer and of French descent, was born in Wheeling, Cook County, IL, son of Frances and Susana (Schaeffer) Fritsch. He married Anna B. Mergler (1848-1909) who was born in Germany. They married in 1866 in Wheeling and moved to Lake County. They had two sons: Francis D. Fritsch (1869-? and died in California) and Winifried Adalbert Fritsch (1873-1945). According to the Waukegan Weekly Gazette (Waukegan IL) Saturday, January 17, 1875: "Avon Items. LOCAL IMPROVEMENTS AND BUSINESS. David Fritsch is now finishing a house which, when completed, will be one of the largest and best in the town."

In the photo above, Rte. 120 in in the upper right hand corner. The lower portion of the photo, according to the 1907 plat map, is the intersection of Gage St. (that intersects with Rte. 120) and North St. Only a portion of North St. exists today behind the Walgreens Pharmacy.
