28454 N. Fremont Center Rd., looking SW. This farm was built in 1900, and as far as I can tell, all structures survive today.

Andrew and Dorothy Tekampe. Homestead. Bill and Marcy STADE Owen when picture taken

This farm property, originally purchased by Johan Tekampe is located the west side on N. Fremont Center Rd. near the N. Gilmer Rd. intersection and Rte. 176 in Fremont Township. The house and larger farm building are still standing today.

Brothers, Johan "John" Tekampe (1826-1895) and Wilhelm "William Tekampe (1836-1911), came from Bavaria (Germany) in the mid-1850s. They purchased farms adjoining each other, John to the south and William to the north on Fremont Center Rd. After the death of John, William purchased the property. William's two sons, John Michael Tekampe (1876-1943) farmed the south farm and Joseph Francis Tekampe (1878-1969) farmed the north farm.
