This was the Amann farm from the 1880s to the 1920s. My father, William Amann, was born here in 1914. Later owned by the Peterson's, the house is still there today, but the farm buildings across the road are gone. Next door to the left was originally a school, has been a tavern for many years.

Barn is basically where N. Manor Hill Rd. intersects with Rt. 60, which is shown cutting across the middle of the photo. The billboard on the side of the barn was for Mundelein Savings bank. View is looking NE.

The farm property was owned by William John Amann (1879-1923) and Anna Marie (Freund) Amann (1884-1919). William was the son of John Amann (1841-1920) and Barbara (Behm) Amann (1844-1913). His parents had their farm property located west of William. John arrived from Bavaria in 1865 purchasing land in Fremont Township. In 1919, William who had already owned 80 acres, purchased 88 acres and his brother, Frank, 80 acres from their father John. After his death in 1923 at the age of 43, William's 168 acres was sold to Joseph Hertel.

The property today is owned by the business Aspen Landscapes, 24066 IL RTE 60 Grayslake IL 60030.
The tavern next door is still in popular use today (2023).
