Herb's drive in
Building still stands as a greasy spoon restaurant. A strip mall has been added onto the right side of the structure. Right on the SW corner of Rt. 120 and Ivanhoe Rd., just east of Rt. 83. The white house at the top of the photo still stands as well.
This property is located at 799 E. Belvidere Rd. in the Village of Grayslake. It is Sammie's and was opened at this location in 1972. It started with 6 stools and was expanded several times to now hold 78 patrons. To the left and out of the photo was the former Grayslake Outdoor Theater and was closed in 1999.
