Countryside Golf Course
Countryside Lake Golf Club clubhouse on Hawley Rd.
In December 1925, the Henry McMahon farm, Julius Chamberlain farm and a portion of the "old Wagner farm" was purchased for the development of a golf course. A total of 2,000 acres was purchased and in addition to the golf course, 1,600 acres was to be designated for homes. In September 1926, the McHahon farm house (left in photo) was being remodeled for a new Countryside Golf Club. The Countryside Golf Club open in July 1927. In 1976, the Lake County Forest Preserve District purchased the 491 acre golf course located at 20800 W. Hawley St. just west of Mundelein. The front nine is located south of Hawley St. (above) and the back nine (bottom of the photo) is located on the north side of the road.
