Another view of the property from slide #24. Wilson Rd. runs along the top of the photo and Rt. 60 at the bottom. View is looking to the NE.
According to the 1907 Fremont Township plat map, this farm property was owned by Frederick Converse (1866-1945) on both sides of Rte. 60. (located in the bottom of the photo) and Wilson Rd. (located in the top right). His father was Washington L. Converse (1824-1895) who owned the property in 1861. Washington was born in Orange County, VT and was left an orphan. At the age of 19 he came to Illinois but in 1854 he purchased 220 acres in Fremont Township. Washington married Jane (Hazen) Converse (1837-1913).
