This farm was located on Rte. 120 (Belvidere Rd.). just east of Wilson Rd. between Volo and Hainesville. The house located on the south side of Rte. 120 still exists. The farm buildings have been removed. To the left of where the buildings stood is now S. Jade Ln. that lead to the Emerald Bay townhomes.
According to the 1907 Grant Township plat map, the property was owned by Louisa Christine (Harwood) Stanford (1830-1905) and additional acreage in Fremont Township owned by her husband, Elijah Stanford (1822-1888). They were born in New York, Elijah at the age of 12 came to Fox Lake with his parents in 1843, married in Illinois and moved to California for the gold rush, lived in Nevada before moving back to farm his land in 1869 and lived on the Clover Dale Farm (on the southwest corner of Rte. 120 and Wilson Rd. in Grant Township for 15 years. They sold the Clover Dale Farm to Albert "Bert" Paddock in 1895.
