Boody grain elevator
I grew up in Tayulorville and travel to see relatives in Decatur was as far from home as we got. We ventured to many small villages with grain elevators during harvest and I was always amazed at hoe they came to live at harvest. I enjoy drawing still life especiall old barns ect. I just recently stummbled on the story about Boody and its purchase by Hank Broughter. Pure luck since I have been working on a wood burning of that facility for many months. I have written a poem dedicated to all those Castles that have passed away and to the memories I recall from an early age. I am now 75 and I have lived the decline of these important social and economic pieces of prairie history. I love the photo you have posted and would like to know the date as that photo is how I remember Boody grain bacl in the day. I would love to get a copy of that photo to use as a reference for a pencil drawing.
Hello Michael,
Thanks for getting in touch with us!
Unfortunately we do not have exact dates for when the photos were taken. When we acquired the library the only record was the year. We do know that the original company did two shoots per year, one in the spring and one in the fall. From the look of the fields and trees I would say this photo was taken in Spring of 1971.
